Training 1/28 & 1/29

EARLY SEASON CONDITIONS EXIST! This is the first of many lectures that will be implemented by the coaches during this first storm. It is not the time to huck, not the time to try new tricks. This is the time to ski on old skis and gingerly avoid rocks, while simultaneously trying to remember how to ski powder.

Training Schedule:

Saturday 1/28 Boreal 8:30-3:00

Work on fine tuning tricks for competition. Perfect landings + Grabs!

Sunday 1/29 Alpine Meadows 8:30-3:00

Big Mountain training with speed control and effective edging. Slopestyle training with consistent non-stop runs.

***PLEASE CHECK THIS SITE OFTEN OVER THE WEEKEND!
If athletes need more park training for GFT we might be at Boreal on Sunday

USASA contest photos

The USASA rail jam today at Boreal marked AFT’s first contest of the season. An appreciated break in the storm this morning brought excellent conditions for a rail jam and every AFT skier that competed was killing it. Logan Laplante made sure to be the standout box-slider of the contest by absolutely annihilating the rainbow box for the 45 minute jam session. Logan’s little brother Cody also crushed it with impressive 270′s on to the pill feature, and even snuck in a few pretzels throughout the day. Taariq Saffouri was easily the skier on the hill with the most style, and proved it by consistently landing 450′s off the pill with classic Taariq swagger. From the looks of things, AFT is sure to provide a solid showing at the Gatorade Free Flow Tour in two weeks time!

Competition Season!

It is officially contest season for AFT. Things can seem a little convoluted due to our lethargic start to winter, but here are the events that we will be promoting this year:

• 2/4 – 2/5 USASA Slopestyle and Pipe Boreal

• 2/4 – 2/5 Gatorade Free Flow Tour Sierra at Tahoe

•2/9 – 2/12 North Face Park and Pipe Open Northstar

• 2/11 – 2/12 Tahoe Junior Freeride Series Sugar Bowl

• 2/11 – 2/12 USASA Slope and Pipe Sierra at Tahoe

• 2/25 – 2/26 Tahoe Junior Freeride Series Squaw Valley

• 3/30 – 4/1 Take the Lake Alpine Meadows

• 3/31 – 4/1 Tahoe Junior Freeride Series Championships Alpine Meadows

We are always open for suggestions about events, so if an event is not on this calender and you feel it should be endorsed by Alpine Freestyle, contact us.

The USASA events and USSA events require registration with their repective organizations. Registration can be accomplished at www.usasa.org and www.ussa.org.

Hopefully, more ussa contests will be offered this year so that tahoe athletes have a chance to go to junior olympics. Stay tuned as this schedule changes.
